Join us for a new conversation series where members of the Brooklyn Jews community reflect on race in relation to their work. In this conversation, Jacob Balter joins us to talk about transportation and his work as Director of Strategic Investments at the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), the biggest and busiest commuter railroad in North America. Since joining the LIRR in the Strategic Investments Department in 2004, Jacob’s focus has been capital and long range planning. This includes spearheading the development of the railroad’s Twenty Year Capital Needs as well as the overall planning for the five year capital programs. During this conversation, he’ll also share about his work ensuring Title VI Compliance, which as part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prevents discrimination in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.
