What to expect at a burlesque show:

Burlesque is a term that has been broadly used to describe vaudeville variety entertainment that can include comedy, music, sideshow, and striptease performance. Nowadays, the word is most commonly associated with the latter. In the early days of the art form, there was no such thing as a strip club; patrons wishing to see nudity would do so at a burlesque house. Since then, cultural and societal lines have been drawn to differentiate the two, although there is much overlap. The neo-burlesque revival of the '90s and '00s has reimagined the older form of entertainment by imbuing it with DIY downtown performance art aesthetic and modern politics. When watching burlesque, you should expect to see nudity which may range from artistic to outrageous, from sensual to sentimental. All genders and sexualities are welcome. Have fun. Bring cash.
